🏁 Time to Battle on the Bricks! | Indy Race Preview

Hi IMSA fans!

What a weekend we're in for! If the on track running that we saw on Friday is any idication of how close things will be this weekend then we really are in for a treat! On a side note Indy is an incredible venue regardless of what the on track product is. No other track on the calendar has the number of screens, speakers, etc to keep fans in the know of what is going on, it's impressive to see!

Oh and since you took the time to subscribe to this newsletter then keep an eye on YouTube this evening/Sunday morning, I'll have a video recapping the practice/qualifying and hearing from some of the drivers!

5 BIG Storylines to Follow as IMSA Heads to Indy!

video preview

Bonus Storyline: The bonus storyline to follow in this year's Battle on the Bricks is one that will significantly impact the quality of Sunday's race: full course yellows (FCYs). There's no doubt we'll see FCYs on Sunday, but how many remains the question.

I can see two scenarios unfolding. First, we might see a relatively clean race with just a few FCYs—which is what I'm expecting. Consider the track layout: plenty of runoff areas, minimal gravel traps, and a wide racing surface. These features typically reduce the number of full course cautions. Combined with IMSA's recent crackdown following the Road America mess, we could see extended green-flag runs where strategy becomes crucial.

On the flip side, statistics from the previous two races here suggest potential chaos. In nearly 9 hours of racing at this venue, we've averaged almost one FCY per hour, with no green-flag run exceeding 1 hour and 36 minutes. Sunday's weather could add another layer of unpredictability to things as well.

As for drivers showing more restraint after Road America? Well, the first practice session featured plenty of bold and as Shea Adam put it “feisty” moves, which might foreshadow Sunday's action.

Bottom line: this race will likely go one of two ways—surprisingly quiet or utterly chaotic—and that dynamic will be in my opinion the most fascinating element to watch when the green flag drops on Sunday.
